South/Southwest side departure:

From Madison, Wisconsin:

  • Take US-151 South approximately 65 miles to Platteville.
  • Pick up WI-80 South in Platteville and travel approximately 15 miles to IL-84.
  • Continue on IL-84 South and turn left onto US-20 toward Galena.
  • Pass the historic town of Galena and travel another 6 miles south on US-20.

From the Quad Cities: Two choices depending on departure location.

From west of the Mississippi River:

  • Take US 61 North approximately 86 miles.
  • Pick up US 20 East in Dubuque and cross the Mississippi River into Illinois.
  • Travel south on US 20 approximately 14 miles.
  • Pass the historic town of Galena and travel another 6 miles south on US 20.

From east side of the Mississippi River:
