The Lake Management and Ecology Committee (LMEC) was formed in 1984 by a group of property owners concerned about the health and wellbeing of Lake Galena. The committee sponsors erosion control and watershed projects related to the lake, the annual fish shocking, and make recommendations concerning what species of fish and how many of each to stock. All recommendations are based on the advice of the lake biologist who is hired by the GTA. LMEC also hosts several events during the year for property owners and their guests. Two bass fishing contests, one in June and another in September, a kid’s fishing contest in July, a Panfish contest in August, lake cleanups in the spring and fall and a winter dinner series featuring a January “State of the Lake” presentation round out the LMEC activities for the year.
