    From Nicor Gas:

Since 2017, Nicor Gas has been offering an affordable option for prospective customers to convert from their current energy source and enjoy the comfort and benefits of safe, reliable and affordable natural gas, thanks to an Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) approved mechanism that the Company refers to as the Neighborhood Expansion Program (NEP). In connection with this important initiative, Nicor Gas filed for approval of a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) with the ICC in February 2018 to serve The Galena Territory. Nicor Gas has announced that, on January 15, the ICC Staff made a filing in which they recommend approval of Nicor Gas’ request to serve The Galena Territory. The final decision to grant authority to serve the area is still pending approval of the Commission before Nicor Gas can move forward. However, Nicor Gas is hopeful that it will receive a final decision this spring. Nicor Gas will soon schedule several onsite town hall meetings to provide property owners with information regarding the construction plan, conversion information, how to sign up for natural gas service and to answer resident’s questions. “We will continue to provide regular communications to the Association as details develop and we are grateful for everyone’s continued support as we conclude the process at the ICC to receive approval to bring natural gas to The Galena Territory,” LaPorte said.
